The political process and the way it works is at times very difficult. Originally the bill was to be expedited through the system but the trade off was to have all
Senators agree. Senator Coburn opposed and with the changes he wanted
made to the structure of the bill would have not even been worth going
forward with a bill.
Senator Lieberman, sponsor of the bill has decided the best way to possibly have success with passage is to go through the regular process, however that being said we need everyone to jump on board. Now
that the decision has been made there will be no other changes this is
it and the bill could very well die right here in the committee but with
everyone participating this will work. All participating in the
process has worked to hard to see this through so far it is almost like
birthing a baby.
The process is exactly the same when the bill was in its infancy stage and started in the house Judiciary committee. Co Sponsors were needed and everyone jumped on board contacted the House Judiciary
Committee members and ask to co sponsor Help Find the Missing Act
~Billy's Law.
Now as it travels through the Senate.. Co Sponsors are needed from the Senate Judiciary members. A list of members and contact numbers are provided. If you ARE a state resident of one of the nineteen co sponsors a
phone call and/or email from your Senator's contact information on their
site will be acceptable please include if possible a few lines about
your personal story if applicable.
If you are NOT a resident of the state then an email from the Senators' web site contact section ONLY, this is the quickest way since time is short and the postal system puts a delay on mail sent to the Senators because of
security reasons.
July 4-11 there will be a recess and most Senators will be traveling to their home state. At this time they will be making appearances and face to face would be the best to ask for co sponsorship
of the bill. They need to know there is support for this explaining
your story and how it has affected your life will add to the need for a
bill such as Help Find the Missing Act. If the state you live
in includes one of the nineteen Senator Judiciary members, by going
onto their web site, a list of places where they will be appearing will
be provided.
We are sorry for the inconvenience, we are all striving for one thing and that is to have a law in place to help the present and future families of missing persons through incentives offered to educate our
law Enforcement and Medical Examines/Coroners..
Remember no one is exempt the technology is here the time is right.
Thank you this is a learning experience for all of us and anything worth having is worth the extra time and effort spent.
Now remember at this time we are asking for co sponsors from the members of the Judiciary Committee ONLY. Above
you will see a link to all the members of the Committee. Here are a few easy
steps to follow to email them. First find the Senator you want to write
too, then click on his name highlighted in blue. This will bring you to the Senators page. You then will look for Contact us or Email us, click on that and you are ready to write.
We have been to each Senators page and
there are ways to email each of them. And of course follow the directions
in the opening statements
NOTE: Senator Charles Schumer of NY is
a member of the Committee but he is already a co sponsor of this Bill.

closing, I would just like to mirror some of the above. This is it folks
it's make it or break time right here, right now, there will be no
second chance, there will be no changes in plans. We have all worked
very hard on this Bill to let it slide through our hands now.
