Sara, as a preacher's kid I've too often witnessed dad and mom bringing to the parsonage a bloody, torn, and bruised shell of a woman pulled from the clutches of a raging drunk of a husband or a possessive and jealous excuse for a human being. Unable to hold a job she would be bed ridden for weeks. A nervous wreck from the medical bills piling up from the beatings. In my early times abuse was accepted. There was no awareness and no advocates. No hope. Her optoins were to run for awhile then return for a worse beating, commit suicide, or kill her abuser which meant prison. Prison was a welcome thought to many compared.
Later my story of abuse is somewhat more subtle as described in the book. But my siblings and I lived with it until we were able to run from it. It is not just life with abuse but the life after abuse that seems to be more pronounced. An individual is afraid to live. He or she hopefully will seek professional help which after years of failing and fear of living I did just that.
Jim,
Such heartfelt insights honest and forthright and so desperately needed!
So many understand and yet there are so many who do NOT! Our society has evolved in many ways BUT at the same time is Regressing too
We ARE HUMANS with HUMAN issues like what the Heck are the causes for the fostering of these problems diseases? Drug abuse, alcohol abuse very often incite the senseless often tragic violent episodes of despicable not even human behavior inflicted upon each other and it is NOT going away no truthfully it seems to be escalating! Many still perish, go missing, dissapear or pass on at the drug influenced hands of an enraged partner, friend or passing stranger! I keep trying to get various people and groups to interlink, share info, insights strengths and lessons learned to help each other advance and go forward share lessons learned and help each other over the rocky roads and deep caverns that keep opening up along the way...

Never have, never will take a flu shot. I would rather gamble with Mother Nature. If it takes me out, oh well!
The only time I have had flu symptoms (and I'm old!) it only lasted a day or two, fever broke, day to recover and then back to normal.
