Permalink Reply by Grace Flynn on April 11, 2009 at 6:25am It would be interesting to have a missing persons TV show that explains the practical techniques involved in finding missing people, starting with simple searching techniques to more sophisticated techniques. Every time a missing person is found, a special news segment could be written about the newly found person, with a compelling explanation given regarding how the person originally got separated from loved ones and then a further explanation about how the loved ones strategically located the missing people. Viewers could write into the producers of the TV show when they know of people who are missing for reasons that are similar to the cases shown on the TV show, and the producers can write back to viewers to give tips on how to find the missing people along with referrals to the right agencies that can help to track people down. Viewer mail, with inquiries about specific missing people, can be read outloud during the TV show, without giving away any personal & private information.

Permalink Reply by Grace Flynn on April 11, 2009 at 2:49pm I agree with Grace that are enough loved ones missing that it could be a 24 hour show but I don't think it would have the impact as a weekly show or maybe even a nightly show might have. I very much agree with Grace that it should be ALL missing, not just those that can up the ratings. It should be weighted between cold cases and new cases.
I liked the format of Dateline where they have 3 experts weighing in.
I would add to that the experts from the legitimate missing people organizations; missing person family member representatives who have already been through the ropes, LE spokes people, DNA experts; SAR experts, etc.
The goals of the show should be:
1. Find the missing
2. Educate the public (what takes place in a search, what's going behind the scenes with LE, etc.)
3. Have resources available for the family's of the missing
4. Safety awareness
5. Fundraising for the families if needed
6. Fundraising for the organizations
7. Inclusion of the public: A blog/chat site up and running while the show is airing and the show commentators can take quetions or address concerns of the bloggers.

Permalink Reply by Joe Chsiholm on December 31, 2010 at 2:54pm I would like to see the show press people with real political power on why war and economics are so important and why missing children is lip service and the odd photo-op?
If everyone who abducted a child (parents and strangers) stole $100,000 a relentless team of law-enforcement would work to see the culprit brought to justice
The lack of political will and action on this topic had to be made public.
Also, there seems to be a rather sophisticated underground for mothers on the run with kids. I think these people should be both heard out and exposed.
