Which cartoon character best represents you? (in response to cartoon character avatars - facebook awareness campaign)

There's an awareness campaign for abused children going on at Facebook in which to participate in you change your profile picture to a cartoon from childhood.

"On Monday December 6, people are going to take to Facebook and change
their avatar to cartoon characters to raise awareness of Child Abuse."

In addition to getting the word out, it's quite fun seeing what cartoon character your facebook friends have chosen as their own.

So .... I was thinking it might be fun to post here at Peace4 (and tell you about the facebook thing via this post ;-) a photo of what cartoon character You would choose as You too ...

(this can change by the hour too, don't feel like you need to get too attached .... ;)

I understand the fun part of this, but don't understand how its bringing awareness, knowledge & protection regarding abused kids. If someones status stated some of the statistics or places to go for help or anger management info or ways to donate to help child abuse victims, I would be more willing to jump on the bandwagon, but I have seen status updates where people change to a character & mention nothing of child abuse. I wrestled with this but would changing to a cartoon character bring help & awareness to find our missing or get support? I would rather see a photo of the missing or link to organization such as peace 4 or jason project, etc. I'm not suggesting a photo of an abused person should be used, but maybe a ribbon, icon, etc or just the words stop child abuse. I'm not trying to offend anyone but I guess I'm just having diffculty with this all over facebook. Its fun to see the cartoons but is it helping? Thanks for letting me throw out my 2 cents. These are just my feelings, nothings right, nothings wrong, its just my thoughts.
When we make the effort to change our profile pic, it plants a seed. We often have many things on our mind and we take a moment to remember those children who aren't safe and happy. You are right tho, no need to limit our efforts. Anything we can do to spread awareness or motivate people we should do. The cartoon attracts attention, then you present your cause. If we really want to help we need to find out what is going on in our communities and become involved personally.
Lisa,

It is true changing one's profile photo doesn't do a lot for the cause but when so many do so it gets national attention. National attention will cause more people to stop and think about child abuse, it may even have the outcome of people coming forward and reporting suspected abuse.

I agree with Don's statement: "If we really want to help we need to find out what is going on in our communities and become involved personally."

I did this too and after I saw all the other people doing it, I decided to give $5 per every sale from my tie dyes in hopes to be able to contribute. I challenge others to do the same.
Thanks for all the replies of wisdom. I appreciate your answers.
