The great state of Alabama, really? Geographically beautiful but our government leaders and legislation is severly forsakeing the women mothers and children of Alabama, as well as the idea of family values. We have laws in place that read well enough yet, these laws are not enforced at an horrific rate and toll to life.
The result is domestic violence is continuing and violent acts are escalating in intensity. As happened to Elizabeth Wilder.
First, came the push, then the shove, next the slap with an added kick in the face or maybe even to her swollen belly filled with his child.
I am an abuse survivor, barely and by the grace hand of God do I breathe. I know first hand that some of these so called "safe" places are not safe at all and I personally was told by my local shelter, in haste and irritation, " You can stay for 2 weeks" I cried then what do I do? "You can't stay here, we don't have room" I had a 9 month old son and a 7 yr old daughter.
I was offered nothing, I wasn't even told that they could have found another shelter anywhere else in the state and that shelter would have gotten me to them. Well, I became homeless in order to get away from him, my sons father. He was physically and mentally abusive, multiple police reports, DV assault conviction and a slap on the wrist.
The abuse from this monster did/has escalated to the unspeakable and worst possible scenario except death involving our son...And, it gets worse, my son is in the custody of this monster. I became the victim...I accused of coercing my son to say the thing's in his plea that he made to those delagated and elected, the proper authorities if you could call them that "proper".
There was no investigation to amount to anything, falsified documents by the court and some attorneys involved. Their fraud, nepatism and cronyism, lies and almighty power out numbered the truth. And, I still fight to free my child from his forced life imposed by a corrupt system.
This corruption exists in the family courts and their rulings all over the state. Why? Many have ask me that question. Children are a commodity, they equate big bucks in a divorce/custody case. Attorney's=$$$, DHR+funding to fix social problems they help to create, GAL's+funding, Aadvocacy center=funding, parenting classes-funding, you get the idea and these thing's will drag on for years=$$$$$
So, if the courts, advocacy centers, court appointed advocates, social programs, and DV safe places fix the problems...hummm, maybe less bucks to "stuff in pockets" fixing the problem?
And today more women and mothers are dead/murdered at the hands of their abuser, children murdered as well or children left without their mothers.
Senseless and evil and all player's who were a part of the neglect to see to the safety of Elizabeth Wilder should be held accountable for not acting by law, ethic's or morality.
I believe we can make a difference, by sharing and careing and educating, we must speak out and speak up. I have dedicated my life to helping women and children find peace and freedom, living in love and growing together...
Today, I learned of Elizabeth and felt as if God led me to a place I never go and I saw her beautiful face and was told by a co worker of the events 1 yr ago.
