Our pi wanted to just drop in on the police and tell them what we need. I think now he was probably right.

Maureen, Donna has that info. We even thought about an attorney, it seems even victims need to know their rights, maybe more so than criminals.

I was not allowed to see tapes either and I don't know if that is standard law enforcement operation or what. Keep demanding that they allow you to see the tapes. I don't know if a court order would help or not but you might have to pursue that route. Did Donna give you the name of the PI in Stanley (Overland Park) that I gave her?

If the police don't let you see those tapes, go to the hotel management and see if they will let you see them (assuming they have copies of it still). If not, maybe hotel security will have someone who has viewed them and can tell you what is on there. This is one area where I would be extremely persistent. Insist if possible on seeing those tapes!!

ps One of the reasons I find it hard to go to Chicago is that I may get an answer. And it may be one I don't want to hear. Still I know we need to push if we want anything to happen.

Thanks for your thoughts Shirley, all of these things have occurred to us; Maybe we need to go to Chicago and press these issues. Getting the police to talk or pursue issues is tiring work. They don't respond to phone calls or emails. We have sent petitions to the Mayor's office, no one really wants to hear from us. For us these thoughts come and go and we can never seem to get the energy to pursue them. But you are right to bring them up, no one will pursue them if we don't. Our local pi has the desire to pursue these things but police ignore him. That's why we keep putting Jesse in the spotlight, maybe that will help. My wife sent a detailed list of questions and the police ignored them. I want to go up with the pi, if I can get him on a plane, and confront the police with questions like these When I go to Chicago, I get such a sense of loss and helplessness I need someone to keep me focused. It is really hard to face the police as they have so little to offer. But If I get the pi up there we can present these thoughts face to face. He and I went up by train and the police took us to lunch. The detective seemed to know almost nothing about the case and I think his job was to keep the pi away from their files. Will let you all know if we make any headway.

I'm not sure I have read all that there is to read regarding the case but I have read enough to know that I would want to look at those video tapes. There is a chance you might recognize someone or something there. If no one saw him leave the hotel, I am wondering if it is possible that someone took him out in a suitcase or some other type of baggage such as a trunk. I would request of the investigating officers that I at least get to see the video tapes. Was anyone else at the meeting that you know or can talk to? Can the people who work at the hotels give you any info or are you even allowed to talk to them? Was there a girl he might have met there? Is it possible there might have been prostitutes working out of the hotel? Was Jesse in any way possibly involved with a drug deal gone bad? Were any of his personal effects ever found any where? I would love to have more details. I am sure you would too. Write everything you know down so that you forget nothing. Memories fade sometimes. Writing it down keeps you from forgetting things. Write everything you can think of even though it seems insignificant. Maybe later it will bring another memory that will help. Good luck. I hope you find Jesse.
