Comment by Tony Romeyn on April 2, 2011 at 10:19pm Hello Karen, that is an awesome poem your Niece wrote, with great depth and feeling.
God hold and Bless you both.
Comment by Karen Sue Stratton on April 2, 2011 at 10:04pm Karen Sue - I'd also like to add that I think the spirit of your niece's poem is perfect for our Poems to Bring Peace4 the Missing group, since your niece's poem speaks of patiently working on meaningful tasks during hard times until excellent things are accomplished.

Hi, Karen Sue. I think your niece Dani Lynn wrote a meaningful and eloquent poem here. I like how the poem describes progress, hope, beauty, & achievement (e.g., "I start to raise," "push through," "I leave many in awe") in the midst of struggle & opposition (e.g., "darkness covers all," "cold and rough," "rain is unstoppable"). The tone at the end is one of triumph, and I appreciate the poem's reminder that patience is key if we're going to see breakthroughs & victory. Nicely done!

Waiting to bloom.....
.by "I am not perfect but I am Little Wing" on Friday, April 1, 2011 at 12:35pm.Darkness covers all, wraps my nature like a glove... I start to raise, this is true love... Cold and rough, push through I continue... Break the surface, I prove to be winning... Light and warmth shine from above, partial elements that most don't think of... Soak in all, any extra becomes reserve... Rain is unstoppable, embrace and move on... My arms start to unravel and petals emerge... Lessons will be learned, the bad is purged... Colors of birth start to show, just a hint of the rest to grow... Bend with the winds, I go with the flow... Leaving behind seeds to sow... With the grace of nature, I accept transformation... Such beauty radiates, touch is the temptation... Still opening, I leave many in awe... Speak to me now, I need to consume, your passion is raw... Moment in peak, final steps come upon... The ending to my beginning, a majestic swan... No need to be concerned, my time on earth will remain... Always and forever, all through memory... Do not let tears fall for me, this was my calling... You can call it a hinged catch, like a pawling... Patience paid off while waiting to bloom... The rewards I reap, my next journey is now soon... I am finally free, chains have been broken... This is the way I see, I lived for the unspoken.....

“Billy Smolinski’s Love of Life” by Bob Rich
Billy brightens the room, by just entering in
With some good-natured fun, and a mischievous grin
He’s a joker and clown: he turns pranks into art ~~
But he doesn’t mean harm, since he has a kind heart.
Billy’s relatives know, with a truth they can feel
That he cares for them all, with a warmth that is real
His sister and nephew, and his niece all can tell
Plus, the girl in his life, Mary Ellen, as well.
His great passion for life, takes him to the outdoors
Billy truly likes sports, in the snow, fields, and shores
While he’s biking through town, when he’s skiing down hills
When he’s fishing with friends, from all sports he finds thrills.
Billy visits the beach, where the bright sun is warm
And he likes animals – he grew up on a farm
Billy has a pet dog, often seen at his side
They both go on long walks, because she is his pride.
And he works hard all day, with mechanical skills
Billy puts in the time, to earn pay for his bills
As a hired apprentice, to fix heat and A/C
Or when driving tow trucks, he works diligently.
And Billy loves music, and the radio’s tunes
He enjoys country songs, about trains and blue moons
Plus, he likes hard rock bands, with their potent guitar
He thinks music should be: found wherever you are.
He’s especially known, to be there as a friend
If you’re stuck in a jam, then his time he will lend
He’s known for his laughter, for his rescue we yearn
We pray he is safe and: always hope he’ll return.
