I HAVE SOME QUESTIONS AND I AM TRYING TO SEE IF I CAN GET SOME ANSWERS AND MAYBE YOU COULD HELP OUT.
SHE WAS FOUND DECEMBER 20, 1976. SHE HAD BEEN DECEASED APPROXIMATELY 14 HOURS. WHEN SHE WAS FOUND SHE WAS FOUND WITH INK WRITING ON HER LEFT PALM.
THE LETTERS WSR AND EITHER A 4 OR A 5 NEXT TO IT AND THEN BELOW TO THE RIGHT EITHER A 4 OR A 7.

IM LOOKING FOR ANYTHING THAT WSR COULD HAVE STOOD FOR IN THE YEAR OF 1976.

ALSO, I AM WONDERING ABOUT THE INS. HOW DID THEY USED TO DO PEOPLE WHO WOULD COME HERE FROM FORIEGN COUNTRIES IN THE 70'S. DID THEY HAVE TO HAVE PASSPORTS? DID THEY HAVE TO HAVE VISA'S DID THEY HAVE SOME TYPE OF FORIEGN REGISTRY THEY HAD TO SIGN OR JUST WHAT DID THEY NEED?

SHE IS SAID TO BE OF POSSIBLEY POLISH OR CZECHASLOVAKIAN ORIGINS.

IF ANYONE CAN FIND OUT ANYTHING IT WOULD BE A REALLY BIG HELP TO A VERY LONG CASE.

Hi Gwennie,

I can't help you with everything but some answers I know.

Yes, in the 1970's a person needed a passport and Visa to get into the US unless they were from Canada or Mexico or one of the Caribbean Islands. A visitors visa was necessary to stay for a limited time (generally 3 months or less); and an entry permit for alien status visa was needed if a person wanted to stay forever (becoming a Resident Alien). If a person were staying and had entered legally, they would be on the Immigration roles. A "green card" (which isn't green btw) was originally issued for 2 years. After the end of the 2 years the immigrant had to report to the INS in their area and were issued a card good for 10 years, and thus every 10 years for another 10 years until they became a citizen. I know that back in the 60's and early 70's Resident Aliens were also supposed to register with their local post office.

I'm not sure now, what the laws were in relation to people from the Czech Republic. Some countries are not allowed into the US without a special permit. However, in those days especially it was easy to enter via Canada and then just come over the US border.

WSR could, sadly, stand for about anything - even an old fashioned telephone exchange. I remember my home town still went by letter telephone exchanges thru the 60's. (eg, ours was Talbot 0228 and we would write the number as TA 0228.)

It could also be a license plate number.

Frank Bender did an updated sketch in 2007 and I'm attaching it, just in case you haven't seen this one Gwennie.

The info I have on Carbon County Beth Doe is that they think she was of Meditteranean heritage. I wish I knew what made them think she was foreign. Sometimes they can tell by dental work.

You might want to contact INS and ask them if they can help you with the laws pertaining to entering the US back in the 70's.

AS FOR THE LICENSE PLATE THEORY THAT PLAYED OUT RATHER QUICKLY. ON MY REGULAR PAGE I HAVE ALL THE UPDATED DRAWINGS AND I JUST POSTED THE LATES INTO ON HER CASE WHICH WAS THAT SHE WAS EXHUMED FOR DNA TESTING AND SENT TO TEXAS. I DONT KNOW IF WE COULD HELP THEM OUT WITH THE CASE BUT I HAVE BEEN IN TOUCH WITH THE DA'S OFFICE BACK THERE IN REGARDS TO THE STATUS OF THE CASE. Did you know that in 2007 Beth Doe's body was exhumed for further analysis. Thus far I can't find the outcome of the results, but perhaps Carbon County's District Attorney can help. His name is Gary D. Dobias. The testing was to be done by the University of North Texas Center for Human Identification in Forth Worth, TX.

I DID A LITTLE RESEARCH LAST NIGHT AND I FOUND OUT SOME THING ALSO, THEY HAD A (WSR57) WHICH STANDS FOR WEATHER SURVEILLANCE RADAR AND THERE WAS A STOCK LIST WSR, WSR:WEST SOMERSET RAILWAY OUT OF UK, THE SAME ONE YOU TOLD ME ABOUT. WSR ROTTERDAM WHICH WAS A BUSINESS. WSR ALSO STOOD FOR WILD SENIC RIVER SYSTEMS 1976. ALL OF THESE THINGS I FOUND WERE IN 1976 . Just to let you know I sent you the links in your inbox for the bulletin. While reading the information to design the bulletin, I have to tell you my gut instinct says that whomever murdered this 8 month pregnant woman was more than probably the father of the baby. It is to henious of a crime to have been committed by a "stranger". There was too much emphasis placed on "ridding her forever". Unlike the Laci Peterson case, in which Scott Peterson unloaded a very pregnant Stacy in the bay, my theory is that this father of the unborn child was very angry and was going to be sure that the relationship with this woman and the infant would not be found. Thus, my guess is he was a married man...to someone else. I believe the blanket was hers and he frequented visiting her at her place of residence. Again, a psycho sociopathic person I do not believe would have gone to the point of wrapping her in a blanket nor cutting off her nose. I believe the killer was either a married lover, or someone prominent in the community. It is truly very tragic and very sad that it has taken so long to get attention to try and find justice. Thanks for "finding her" and working hard to bring this to a closure. Someone, somewhere loved this young girl.

Lavanda you did such a beautiful job on this! I could not have asked for more. I think this will help so much with others noticing her. Listen I was wondering if you would like to post any of these on my unsolved homicides and missing persons page on myspace? I would love for you to feel free to post as many as you would like to. I try to get others to use my site for what I invisioned it to be and that was a place to post any information one would chose to post in regards to missing or deceased unsolved cases. Hi Gweenie , yes the pass port was out in 1940 with photo ID so when she came over if this was case back then, she would have had a pass port with photo ID in 1976, the pass port might had came out even earlier than this. But on the other hand she might had been a stow away, if this is possible. hope this helps

Since she was found in PA, the WSR57 could stand for their Weather Surveillance Radar 57 (WSR57) it was changed after 1976 to WSR88. Not sure if this was brought up or not in previous post, just thought I would mention it.

Also Gwennie are there any photos of the writing on the hand, if they are thinking she was from Europe or Meditteranean, then one good indication of that would be how the 7 was written, educated Europeans and Meditteraneans all write their number 7 with a dash through the middle as they use the top on the number 1
