I have been in contact with the detective on this case. There are several upsetting things he has reported to me. Of course, this is an ongoing investigation, so he is not letting me in on any secrets!

Viridiana's family had filed for custody of his son through family court. The son was taken to the Dominican Republic, and it is reported that the father, Jorge, is also out of the country. The detective did not know the outcome of the custody filings at this time.

I asked him about searches and if there were any areas of concern, but he said the investigation goes all the way from North Charleston to Tacoma, WA so I am assuming they do not have an area to search at this time.

He is very forthcoming with information and answers all the questions I have put to him very respectfully. He will let me know if there are any further developments.

Update........

Confirmed, Vicky Roberts is not involved in Viridiana's disappearance.
Confirmed, Jorge is the prime suspect and moved back to SC Nov. 2007.
Confirmed, Viridiana's family has filed for custody of her child with Jorge.
Confirmed, DNA samples have been entered into SC data base and NCIC data base from her family.

Karrie, I am Peki on Websleuths. I made contact with the reporter and he was going to get any updates for me. I haven't been able to make contact with a family member yet. I have the same suspicions you do about the ex and don't know what he has said so far.
