Which Peace4 Team would you most like to participate in?
Sleuths, Encouragers, Newsletter, Legislative
Are you involved with other organizations (please include link if applicable) relating to Missing Persons and Domestic Violence...and if so, please share a bit about here...
I have just registered to volunteer at "Findthemissing.org" and "IdentifyUs.org".
I was a Law Enforcement Victims Advocate until 2007. Lack of funding through the non-profit organization(domestic violence & sexual assault) by way of Grants and the County fell through, so the position was eliminated.
What brought you to Peace4? What are you most hoping to accomplish here?
I was a victim of domestic violence and sexual assault for 9 years back in the 1970s. At that time DV & SA advocates did not exist where I was living.
When the violence escalated to our son I finally broke down & told my parents what was happening. My parents were great and got my son & me out of the situation & back home. I was also fortunate that my dad had a great working relationship with the local PD and the Sheriff's office. The support we were given was stellar.
As a LEVA I was able to give that support to the Victims of crime. I didn't like what I saw& heard, but I thoroughly enjoyed my job for it gave me the ability to give back. I have also been involved with our local CASA organization.
How did you hear about Peace4?
I was refered by Todd Matthews, NaMus Regional System Administrator.
Do you have a Missing Loved One? If Yes, please include their name, location missing, etc. (If not, simply answer No)
I had not heard of Peace4 until I received the email from Todd Matthews. Helping people is who I am and having the ability to give back means a great deal to me. Making our world a safer place for our children and grandchildren is a must. No one should have ever have to experience the pain, humiliation, fear and loss of life by the hands of another.
Positive Suggestions/Ways you may be able to improve/contribute to Peace4?
Since I am new to your organization my knowledge of how your volunteers participate is limited. I would like to help out in any way I can.
