We will be going on 5 years of not knowing where our father is, what happened to him or why he is gone. I had hoped this day would never come. (I remember, like it was yesterday, meeting Kelly Jolkowski-she was approaching her 5 yrs of not knowing-and thinking, oh God please don't let it be so long for us-how do you go on for that long) So much has happened; I have so much to tell him. When he was just a phone call away or a 2 hr. airplane ride…

My story starts around 1995. When Johnny and I were married in 1989 I knew he had drinking problem. On our honeymoon he decided to go in to the pool clothes and all, and when we got back to our room we had a fight and he threw his wallet at me and hit me in the head. I should have left when he past out and went home and left him at the beach but I did not. I thought that I could change him.
Well for several years nothing happened because we had his father that was in a hospital bed and I…

I was never a big fan of sleep overs, unless of course they were at my house, but when my daughter became of age to sleep over a friends house, I found a way to make myself feel better about and also make sure that she was safe.
We have given our children code words to use when being picked up by a relative at schools or other events, but we also need to keep them safe when they spend the night at someone else's home.
When my daughter started having sleep overs, either she would have…

Sin By Silence - A Documentary about Domestic Violence
le of violence thrives on silence
It isn’t big enough. That’s what I think of the venue for the 10th annual Domestic Violence conference tomorrow (8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Hodel’s, cost $35).
I came to that conclusion after watching the documentary that will be screened at the conference titled “Sin by Silence.”
Everyone should see this film.
And afterward, we need to have people on hand like Nada…

If a snake eats a mouse that you have fed poison too, what will happen to that snake? If a bird eats that snake what will happen to that bird? If a cat eats the bird what will happen to the cat? If we pet the cat what will happen to us?
In this example of chain reaction we can see how each life can touch another life. In this example though the outcome is not a good one.
I thought by sharing this it will make it easier to understand…
