I was just talking to a Mom whose son has been missing for roughly 6 months.  She lives on the East Coast and he went missing in Los Angeles CA.  She filed a missing persons report shortly after he went missing.  The accepted the missing persons report but have renigged and put a warrant out for an arrest due to the car he was driving has been reported stolen (he was supposed to turn it back into the dealership, he didn't actually steal the car).  They have told his mother that his missing persons case is closed because he has a warrant out for his arrest.

When my mom went missing, she had a warrant out for her arrest for failure to appear in court.  They still kept her missing persons case open.

I am feeling so much frustration for this family.  If he is harmed, well then of course he couldn't return the car... Like my own mom.  How could she go to court when she was no longer with us.

I am in shock and have never heard of any LE agency doing this.  Have you?

Thank you guys for all of your feedback.  It's very disturbing but the truth is now, sadly, that they will be looking for the car.  When they find the car, they will have better clues to find him.  It's just sad that a car is more important that finding a person.

I forgot this part. Alicia is a endangered Missing person, She has many illness's, They should have a mandate that all adults who have severe problems with health of any kind get on the news imediately,  there is a silver alert in many states and of course the amber alerts. Why not have a special alert for those who need special medications or medical care. We need a system that covers them all not just a few. The Internal Investigation --Never came to light, Alicia was already missing by the time we got the letter for victims rights and the questionaire for her to fill out. So Now The Conditions That Need Fixing Haven't Been Fixed.

Actually yes I have.  My daughter Alicia's car is still in the impound lot. For Mothers day I recieved a letter stating that she is going to be charged for having a abanonded vehicle, that I could (she) could contest it and that she only had 20 days.  When she went missing she was last seen in that car.  The law inforcement notified me much later. I am not sure how much. but they cannot look for her that way. The day she went missing she had just picked up her car from impound because it had been stolen. she had to pay all the towing fees daily rates and a ticket for abandoning it. it had been stolen and she was injured by the girlfriend of the man who took it illegally.  She called the police when they arrived she asked them to make a police report on her stolen car and to make a assult complaint against the person who had attacked her and also asked to be taken to the hospital in the ambulance they had on site. they refused because they didn't belive her story. She had to call a friend to take her to the hospital. She was admittedfor 3 days and when I picked her up from the hospital for her discharge, she insisted on going to the Precinict where the officers worked and filed a complaint against them for not helping her and not filing the reports neccerary that she requested. This started a Internal Affairs Investigation involving the 5 officers that failed to use good judgement, who made the wrong evaluation of the situation.  I believe all of this could have been preventable. I also believe that some or all of those officers may have hard feelings toward Alicia because she filed that complaint. I also feel that these events may have led to slow or lack of interest in helping her case. All of which is just speculation on my side. However Alicia knew her rights and believed in fighting for them. She only had that one car and it meant everything to her to have transportation. Her Grand father was a Auxiliry police officer and he taught his kids and grand children how to stand up for them selves as did my father. A US Army Veteran. So do what you have to and keep records of everything, make doubles and keep the doubles somewhere besides your home in the event of fire or any number of things that can go wrong. Of course you should always do that and not just on a computer that can crash.   I have sent letters to City Council Members, Chiefs of Police, Mayors, and the Attorney General of my State,  To Television shows, to anyone in the Media who might be able to help,  I have copies of e-mails and letters, I have recorded her voice mails. I have written to the impound lot and the towing services. I have all of them.   Keep a paper trail in the event your memory fades and you need times to validate info. I hope there aren't many mistakes in my typing I really shouldn't type this long. Hope this helps someone else. Pam Digna Mother of "Missing Person Alicia Digna"

Hi, I'm  a private investigator in the Los Angeles area, and I do a lot of missing person work ( see http://flipmysteries.tv )  What police station?  I know a lot of people.  Unfortunately I will be out of town from Thursday afternoon to very late Sunday.  I wish I could be here for the family.  If they want to contact me I will try to help.  Vicki@VickiPI.com, 818-242-0130.

I would call the California Bureau of Investigation and ask them to get involved.  Jack

The mom needs to be more insistent that they continue to keep the missing person report active and they can keep the warrant, as well. I am so sorry she is going through the pain of a missing child and to add this stress of a ridiculous "warrant for arrest" to his missing status is bad enough. However, on the positive...if there is one....police tend to find missing cars before they find missing loved ones so I would advise to keep both open...she needs to contact the police chief, or the county attorney....more than probable, to get the assistance she needs. She needs to be a squeaky wheel. Prayers her son will be located safely.

That was exactly my thought Don ... more eyes are looking for a criminal than a missing person.

Stephanie...I'm glad to hear that she will be going out there for a face to face.  Hopefully she won't have to escalate.
