Man says he misled police about missing child

FLINT (AP) — A Flint father said he filed a false police report that led to an Amber Alert because he thought it would prompt a quicker response to his stolen car.

Police said the man reported that his 7-month-old son was inside the vehicle when it was stolen Monday afternoon from a high school parking lot in Flint. Authorities immediately issued an Amber Alert.

Surveillance video from the school later revealed that the boy and the car were never at the school. The child was found safe inside an apartment in Burton, in the care of relatives.

The man told WNEM-TV that he takes responsibility for not getting the situation under control.

No charges have been filed, but an investigation by police and Child Protective Services is ongoing.

Do people think this is a game? But then again why charge this guy for making false report when the maliciously missing are out there falsely making everyone think they are dead for years ... it's their life, their choice. Guess it was this Dad's choice to prompt a fake Amber Alert, hey it's his life .... guess we shouldn't charge anyone for anything as long as it's their choice. I wonder if they also gave him a pat on the back. Oh I know they'll probably charge the baby with something or hey even better make the baby pay the legal and/or search fees! --- Insane.

The Maliciously Missing Law (Draft):</</b>i>

Anyone 16 or older who decides to walk away from their life must present themselves to any law enforcement agency in the country within X amount of hours and sign a statement that this is their wish. Law enforcement will need to gather proof that the person standing in front of them is who they say they are. Snapping a photo of the person, fingerprinting and obtaining and entering a DNA swab (national database?) from the person. Law enforcement will then have X amount of hours to notify the family and provide them concrete proof that this is their loved one who stood before them. Law enforcement should also provide to the person walking away from their lives a list of resources to closest mental health agencies, domestic violence shelters, abuse shelters, rehabs, marriage counselors, etc.

This is yet another travesty of justice and this guy also should be charged and made to pay restitution for abusing the system.

He should definitely be charged. There are myself and many other families, of the Missing that would like to hang this MAN. If he had to walk in our shoes for even one Day - He would have never done that. HE DESERVES A LARGE APOLOGY TO THE MISSING.

Where may I write a personal letter to this "man". I would like to have him read my letter that explains my feelings about the missing toddler in our family all these years. He needs a wake up call so that he may know his actions were not taken lightly. And, I strongly feel that fiancial retribution is appropriate in this situation.
