Travis L. Baker
TAYLORSVILLE - Travis Lee Baker, 21, of Taylorsville, died June 24, 2009. Travis was born July 10, 1987, in Catawba County, a son of Carroll Dwayne and Patricia "Trish" Hughes Baker. He graduated from Bunker Hill High School in 2005, where he played football and baseball. He loved fishing and hunting. He was preceded in death by a son, Takoda Chilton Baker, and his maternal grandfather, Leroy Hughes. Survivors include his parents, Carroll Dwayne and Patricia "Trish" H. Baker of Taylorsville; brothers, Brandon Baker of Taylorsville and Jerry Sigmon Jr. and Aaron Sigmon of Claremont; paternal grandparents, Carroll Wayne Baker of Hickory and Linda Kaye Johnson of Taylorsville; maternal grandmother, Mona Lee Hughes of Conover; paternal great-grandmother, Lula Hughes of Hickory; uncles, William David Hughes of Conover and Phillip Cavender of Nashville, Tenn.; an aunt, Monica Leigh Wheeler of Cherryville; nephews, Jesse Cavender, Preston Hitchcock and Cody Wheeler; and godparents, Trina and Jerry Sigmon Sr. of Claremont. A service of remembrance will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, July 2, 2009, in the chapel of Drum Funeral Home in Hickory. The Rev. Scott Johnson will officiate. Entombment will follow in Catawba Memorial Park in Hickory. Pallbearers will be Angel Rodriquez Sr., Alex Rodriquez, Angel Rodriquez Jr., Billy Little, Aaron Sigmon and Jerry Sigmon Jr. The family will receive friend from 1:30 to 3:45 Thursday at Drum Funeral Home in Hickory.
